On the first day of the third test, New Zealand did well to recover after losing 4 wickets for just 83 runs, finishing the day at 225/5. 

Stuart Broad picked 2 top-order wickets in the form of opener Tom Latham (0) and captain Kane Williamson (31), while Jack Leach managed important wickets of Will Young (20) and Henry Nicholls (19).

Daryl Mitchell led the Kiwi's revival with an unbeaten 78 runs and is partnered with Tom Blundell (45*) at the other end.
