New Zealand will clash against West Indies in the 2nd ODI on August 19th (Friday) to stay alive in the 3-match series.
West Indies won the first ODI and took the lead by 1-0 in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand and now will be facing the Kiwis in the second game to seal the series on August 19 at Bridgetown.
In the opener match, West Indies won the toss and invited the visitors to bat, after which the Caribbean bowlers wreaked havoc on the opposition team. The Kiwi team got bowled out on a score of 190 runs.
For New Zealand, skipper Kane Williamson top scored with 34 runs of 50 balls and Michael Bracewell (31 runs) became the second-best batter for the Kiwi side.
Akil Hossain was the most successful bowler for West Indies. Hussain took 3 wickets for 28 runs, while Alzarri Joseph took 3 wickets for 36 runs in 8.2 overs. The team's star all-rounder Jason Holder took 2 wickets. Kevin Sinclair and Yannick Caria also took a wicket each.
Chasing a low total, Shamarh Brooks played an astonishing knock of 79 runs of 91 balls with nine-fours and a six, which helped the hosts register an easy victory by five wickets and take a lead by 1-0 in a three-match series.
Trent Boult and Tim Southee were the only pacers who took two wickets each and one wicket was scalped by Mitchell Santner for New Zealand.
