IND vs THAI, Women's Asia Cup: Indian women's team led by Harmanpreet Kaur enters the final of Women's T20 Asia Cup 2022 after an emphatic win by 74 runs over Thailand in the first semi-final here at Sylhet Stadium.
Thailand skipper Naruemol Chaiwai won the toss and called India to bat first in the first semi-final.
Shafali Verma played a quick inning of 42 runs in 28 balls, Jemimah scored 27, and skipper Harmanpreet added 36 runs to the board. In the end, Indian batting collapsed in quick successions and was able to make 148/6.
Thai bowlers impressed with the bowl, specially Sornnarin Tippoch grabbed 3 important wickets as she sent Shafali, Harman, and Richa Gosh to the pavilion. Boochatham, Maya, and Putthawong were able to get one wicket each.
Thailand came to chase a low total but their batting collapsed to 74 for 9 in 20 overs and hence was not able to live their dream of playing the Asia Cup final.
Captain Naruemol Chaiwai and Nattaya Boochatham were the top scorers for Thailand as they both scored 21 runs each.
India bowled with compassion where Deepti Sharma was the leading wicket-taker with 3/7 and a maiden over out of four. Rajeshwari Gayakwad got 2/10 whereas, Renuka, Rana, and Shafali grabbed a one-one wicket each.
