After winning the toss Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur elected to bat first. The team started well but struggled to make runs with pace. In the initial ten overs Indian side led by opener Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana totaled just 62 runs.
Soon after Shafali departed at 24, Mandhana played freeflow shots all around and over the ground before going back to the pavilion in the 19th over while the team got 143 runs on the board.
