5) Ravichandran Ashwin surpassed Harbhajan Singh's 265 test wickets in India. He has now 271 wickets in India and is only behind Anil Kumble (350 wickets) in terms of most Test wickets in India. He is at fifth spot among spinners with most Test wickets at home.

He has gone past MS Dhoni, Kapil Dev, and Harbhajan Singh in terms of hitting most centuries batting at number 8 for India; they all had scored two at this position. Overall, Daniel Vettori has hit most hundreds - 4 - while batting at number 8.

7) This was the third instance of Ashwin scoring a century and picking up a fifer in the same Test match. He is now only behind Ian Botham in this regard who achieved this double 5 times in his Test career.
