The Haryana Hurricane was the youngest test player to take 100 wickets and score 1000 runs. 

The former Indian captain broke the world record of Sir Richard Hadlee of 431 wickets in Test Cricket. Kapil Dev finished his test career with 434 wickets, a record he held for the next eight years. 

He is the only Test captain to take a 9-wicket-haul in an inning. His figures read 9/83, which is also his best bowling performance. It came in a losing cause, again a record. 

Kapil Dev holds the record of highest score batting at number 6 - 175*. 

For the all-rounder he is, Kapil Dev has also made his appearance in four Bollywood films - Dillagi.. Yeh Dillagi, Iqbal, Chain Kulli Main Kulli, and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi. He has a song released as well - One India My India. 

The legendary Indian cricketer has written four books so far. Three autobiographies and one on Sikhism.
