1) Poonam Yadav was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, in 1991. Her father, Raghubir Singh Yadav, is a retired Army Officer.

2) Poonam, since childhood, was very much interested in almost every sport. However, due to her height, she was limited to play only a few sports, and cricket was one of them. 

3) At first, Poonam playing cricket had reservations from her father's side but one day she ran to her coach - Hemlatha Kala, who then convinced Raghubir Yadav to let her play. 

4) Poonam Yadav started playing professionally for Central Zone and then went on to play for Uttar Pradesh. In 2009-10, Poonam had a dip in form and wanted to quit cricket permanently. However, her coaches and well-wishers helped her rebuild confidence. 

5) Poonam made her international debut in the 2013-14 season. She played a key role in India being the runners-up in the 2017 World Cup. In 2018, the 5'1" was the joint leading wicket-taker of the tournament. 

6) Currently, Poonam Yadav is the highest wicket-taker for India in WT20Is. 

7) She was conferred with Arjuna Award in 2019. 

8) So far, Poonam Yadav has taken 75 wickets in 52 ODIs and 98 wickets in 71 T20Is.
