Only an interim measure: Anil Kumble on saliva ban
New Delhi, May 24: The International Cricket Council's (ICC) Cricket Committee chaired by Anil Kumble has recommended banning the usage of saliva to polish the match ball in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. While it is a topic of hot debate and some of the current players have also spoken about the need to allow use of artificial substance of some form, Kumble has now thrown light on the same.
Speaking on Star Sports show Cricket Connected, Kumble said: "We did discuss that, but if you look back at the history of the game, I mean we have been very critical and we have been very focused on eliminating any external substances coming into the game whether you are literally legalising if you are looking to do that now which obviously has had a great impact over the last couple of years.
