New Zealand scored 553 runs in the first innings followed by 284 runs in the second, while England scored 539 and 299 runs in both the innings respectively.

Out of 1,675 runs, 1,044 runs were scored through boundaries only, which included 225 fours and 24 sixes. In the 145 years of test cricket history, this has happened for the first time that more than 1,000 runs were scored through fours & sixes.
