WATCH: NZ-Born England Test Skipper Ben Stokes Gets A 'Birthday Gift' From Colin De Grandhomme
ENG vs NZ 1st test - Ben Stokes, the newly appointed captain of the England test team, was having a bad outing with the bat in his first match as the leader. After getting dismissed for 1 run in the first innings, Stokes was yet again bowled for 1 run in the second innings whilst England still needs more than 200 runs to win with only 6 wickets remaining. However, New Zealand's Colin de Grandhomme gave the NZ-born English skipper Ben Stokes a life.
After Daryll Mitchell's ton and Tim Blundell's 96 in the third innings, New Zealand managed to post a target of 277 runs for the English to chase down in the fourth innings to win the match. In reply, England lost 4 wickets for just 69 runs, and Ben Stokes had to come out to bat.
